Four Panthers win titles at WCAC Duals

GUTHRIE CENTER — Panorama had four wrestlers stand atop the podium in their respective weight class at Saturday’s WCAC Duals, with the Panthers finishing second in the team standings.

Woodward-Granger topped Panorama, 48-28, to claim the top spot as both finished 4-1. Panorama (now 12-1 in duals) defeated West Centrral Valley, 48-27, and Ogden, 66-12, before whipping AC/GC, 63-16 and ending their day with a 38-33 win over Van Meter/Earlham.

Danny Nordquist (126 pounds), Noah Kirtley (145), Gunnar Grunsted (170) and Trevor Carey (182) each rolled to 5-0 marks to claim conference champion honors.

Nordquist recorded two pins and three major decisions for his title, with Kirtley pinning four foes and receiving one forfeit, with Grunsted also tallying four pins and being handed one forfeit. Carey won his title behind two pins, a decision, and two forfeits.

Wyatt Appleseth was 4-1 at 132 with two pins and two decisions while Dan Jensen finished 4-1 at 285 with two pins, a forfeit and a win in Sudden Victory I.

Kaleb Stogdill one by pin and major decision at 160 and was 2-1 at 152 with a pin and a forfeit to also finish 4-1 overall.  Chris Allison went 2-1 in three bouts at 160, winning both by pin fall and by forfeit.

Another highlight for the Panthers came at 195, where Dalton Holmes finished 3-1. The senior won a major decision and twice by pin, collecting career victory 100 in the process.

Brady Howard was 3-2 at 220 with a pin and two forfeits. Logan Christe was 2-3 at 106 with two pins while Emry Colby was 2-3 at 138 with two pins.

Wyatt Clark was 1-4 with a forfeit at 120 while the Panthers left the 113-pound division open.

Panorama will finish their pre-Christmas break slate Friday when they compete in the Saydel Duals.
