The National Weather Service office in Des Moines has issued a frost advisory for the Perry area over the early hours of Friday.
Temperatures in the low to mid 30s will result in frost formation between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m. Friday over much of central Iowa.
Frost could kill sensitive outdoor plants if the plants are left uncovered. Take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold.
Along with Dallas County, the frost advisory will be in effect for Crawford, Carroll, Greene, Boone, Story, Marshall, Audubon, Guthrie, Polk, Jasper, Cass, Adair, Madison, Warren, Marion, Adams, Union, Clarke, Lucas, Monroe, Taylor, Ringgold, Decatur, Wayne and Appanoose counties.
Along with Perry, cities expecting effects from the frost advisory include Denison, Carroll, Jefferson, Boone, Ames, Marshalltown, Audubon, Exira, Guthrie Center, Panora, Bayard,
Casey, Perry, Waukee, Adel, Des Moines, Newton, Atlantic, Greenfield, Stuart, Adair, Fontanelle, Winterset, Earlham, Indianola, Norwalk, Carlisle, Pella, Knoxville, Corning, Creston, Osceola, Chariton, Albia, Bedford, Lenox, New Market, Mount Ayr, Lamoni, Leon, Corydon, Seymour, Allerton, Humeston and Centerville.
