A GoFundMe fundraising campaign was started Sunday for the Jefferson man shot to death June 27 in his home.
Richard Thompson, 54, of Jefferson was found deceased in the Jefferson residence Friday night, and his wife, Christene Thompson, 49, was taken into custody and is held in the Greene County Jail on a charge of first-degree murder.
On Sunday Chastity Thompson of Leakey, Texas, organized an effort to raise enough money to cover the funeral expenses of her uncle. She wrote on the GoFundMe page titled, “Help Uncle Richard with a Proper Farewell”:
Hello, this is Chastity Thompson. As many of you may know, my Uncle Richard’s life was sadly taken from him June 27. My family will be bringing his body home to Texas from Iowa to give him the proper burial he deserves. I am creating this GoFundMe to help cover expenses as we mourn the loss of an amazing man. Anything helps during this time. Thank you on behalf of Thompson family.
Details of the funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date, she said.
