Future Bluejays attend football camp

Several dozen youngsters in grades 4-6 were on hand Thursday for the first day of the Future Bluejay Football camp at the Perry practice field.

The camp, which is focusing on fundementals, in being coached by Perry varsity head coach Jason Olejniczak and assistants Ben Coy, Matt Hardy and Jim Richmond. Current Bluejay players Beau Briles, Marcus Meri and Eli Saemisch are also helping.

A highlight for the campers has been the three guest instructors, all of them former Perry standouts, as Iowa State University linebacker Kane Seeley, Luther College linebacker Jackson VanKirk and Luther College defensive back Gabe Saemisch are working with the one-day-a-Jay hopefuls on their techniques.

The camp continues Friday, running from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
