Funeral services for Gail Carlysle Shaffer, 85, will be Monday, Oct. 19 at Hastings Funeral Home in Perry. Visitation is from 1-3 p.m., with Elk services at 3 p.m.
Gail was born Aug. 2, 1930, in Vinton, Iowa, and died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015, at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation in Des Moines.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Shaffer; parents, Arthur Shaffer and Lura McKinley; son, David Shaffer, and his wife, Heather Shaffer; brother, Russell, and his wife, Norma Shaffer; sister, Arlene Thompson; and granddaughter, Paula.
He is survived by his son, Chris Shaffer of Des Moines; daughter, Bettina (Damien) Pinches of Rosebud, Victoria, Australia; 12 grandchildren;16 great-grandchildren;5 great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and many friends.
