Gilberta ‘Gilly’ Heithoff of Jamaica

Gilberta “Gilly” Heithoff, 81, of Jamaica passed away Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019, at the EveryStep Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

Gilly’s family will be hosting a memorial service Saturday, Oct. 26 at 4 p.m. at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Perry. Visitation will be Saturday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at the Dallas Township Cemetery near Dawson.

Gilberta “Gilly” Mae Heithoff was born on July 19, 1938 at Tama, Iowa, to Emery Ellsworth and Mable Mae (Ballhorn) Stull.

She attended school at Tama High School.

Gilly was united in marriage to Donald John Heithoff in Marysville, Mo., Sept. 17, 1965.

She worked at the Woodward State Hospital and later as a bartender. She sold Sara Coventry jewelry and last worked at the Rowley Masonic Community in Perry for 11 years.

Gilly was a member of the Roman Catholic Church and later joined Trinity Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed going camping, sewing, gardening and digging in the dirt.

In death Gilly rejoins her husband, Donald; parents, Emery and Mable Stull; four brothers, Lauren, Harlan, Duane and Melvin Stull; and a sister, Laura Smith.

Left to cherish Gilly’s memory are her only daughter, Heidi (John) Chapin-Riehl of Dawson; grandchildren, Max and Mason Chapin of Dawson; and a sister, Colleen (Harold) Hjerleid of Decorah.
