Girls basketball teams set to begin postseason play

Class 2A Woodward-Granger and 3A Panorama will begin girls postseason basketball Saturday, with Perry, playing in 4A, to open Wednesday.

Perry (2-18) will visit Boone (9-9), with the winner moving on to face host Denison-Schleswig (17-3) Feb. 20. Spencer (14-7) hosts Webster City (2-19) in the other first round game, with that victor traveling to Harlan (15-5) Feb. 20. The Regional Final will be played Feb. 23.

In Class 3A Region 1, Panorama (17-4) hosts Red Oak (4-15) Saturday, with Shenandoah (10-10) entertaining Clarke (3-17), the winners to play, in Panora, Wednesday. The other side of the bracket has Cherokee/Washington (19-0) playing Kuemper Catholic (5-16) and Atlantic (8-13) meeting Greene County (6-12). The Regional Final will be Feb. 20.

Class 2A Region 2 action starts Saturday with Woodward-Granger (4-15) hosting Ogden (1-19), with victor traveling to Grundy Center (16-3) Tuesday. Earlham (12-8) plays visiting Postville (10-10) in Tuesday’s other quarterfinal.

The opposite side of the R2 bracket South Hardin (4-15) visiting Madrid (5-15), with Denver (16-4) to entertain the winner Tuesday while Van Meter (14-6) hosts Colfax-Mingo (5-15) in the fourth quarterfinal. The semifinal round will be held Feb. 19 and the final Feb. 24.

All records are as of Feb. 12. All games are currently scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
