Funeral services for Gladys Blougher, 90, of Perry will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Burial will be in Violet Hill Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to the Taylor Hospice House or the First United Methodist Church.

Gladys passed away in Des Moines, Iowa, Wednesday, June 13, 2018, at Taylor Hospice House.

Gladys Audrey Greif was born Sept. 19, 1927, in rural Dallas Center, Iowa, the daughter of Eckhart and Mabel (Temple) Greif.

She attended country school until the eighth grade and attended Dallas Center High School, graduating with the class of 1945. Gladys furthered her education at Drake University, receiving a master’s degree.

She taught four years in country schools and then taught in town and ended up in Perry Community Schools, teaching third grade.

Gladys met John Dean Blougher, and they were married on March 6, 1954, at the Christian Church in Woodward.

They lived on the farm for 39 years and then moved to a home in Perry in August 1993.

Gladys enjoyed gardening, canning and doing chores on the farm. She spent many enjoyable hours watching her daughters and her grandchildren play sports.

Survivors include two daughters, Audrey Mohr of Perry and Alma (Gary) Swanson of Ogden; one sister, Betty Haugen of Granger; four grandchildren, Amy (Michael) Bahl, Courtney (Daniel) Taylor, Kyle Swanson and Kelsey (Brian) Shelton; and four great-grandchildren, Alice, Abby, Jeff and Jayden.

Preceding Gladys in death were her parents; one brother, Eckhart, three sisters, Burnetta, Thelma and Edith; and her husband, Dean, Sept. 16, 2017.
