A Jefferson family who lost their home in a fire Saturday are the subjects of a GoFundMe campaign.

A Perry-area woman has started a GoFundMe campaign for her nephew and his young family, whose Jefferson home was destroyed by fire Saturday.

“My nephew Jacob Lane and his family lost their home to a fire on Dec. 7 right before Christmas!” Candice Welch of Winterset wrote on GoFundMe. “Thankfully, the fire was during the day, and Devon and the kids were away. Jacob was able to call 911 and get some things out of the house, but the house is unlivable, and he, Devon and the kids won’t have a place to call home for a while. On top of that, his van isn’t running because of electrical problems. They live in Jefferson, Iowa, and are currently staying at a hotel. Please help with anything you can to cover living expenses and fix their vehicle and get them through this trying time.”

Welch said donations can be made through GoFundMe or Facebook.

“If you can help by donating or sharing I would appreciate it. If you don’t want to send through GoFundMe you can send through to Kathy Welch on Facebook Pay.”
