Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds “broke bacon” Friday morning with international delegates from Japan, Belgium and Iceland.
The delegations from Iowa’s Sister States are in Des Moines for Saturday’s 12th annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Fest.
As the nation’s leading pork-producing state, Iowa has earned an international reputation for the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. The annual festival was founded in 2008 by the Iowa Bacon Board. It now attracts about 14,000 bacon-lovers to the one-day event.
“I’m honored to ‘break bacon’ with delegations from Japan, Belgium and Iceland in recognition of our relationships and the importance of trade to our dedicated farmers who feed and fuel the world,” Reynolds said.
