Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds “broke bacon” Friday morning with international delegates from Japan, Belgium and Iceland.

The delegations from Iowa’s Sister States are in Des Moines for Saturday’s 12th annual Blue Ribbon Bacon Fest.

As the nation’s leading pork-producing state, Iowa has earned an international reputation for the Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival. The annual festival was founded in 2008 by the Iowa Bacon Board. It now attracts about 14,000 bacon-lovers to the one-day event.

“I’m honored to ‘break bacon’ with delegations from Japan, Belgium and Iceland in recognition of our relationships and the importance of trade to our dedicated farmers who feed and fuel the world,” Reynolds said.

Sponsors of the annual pork event include Business Solver, Absolut, Templeton Rye, Berkwood Farms, Coors, Southern Comfort, Captain Morgan, Silent Disco DSM, Fireball, Dr, McGillicuddy’s, Reynolds and Reynolds Inc., Nash, KGGO, the Vibe, the Champ, Advanced Automation, Audi of Des Moines, Barefoot Wine, Beer Can Alley, the Des Moines Register, Dickson Industries, Image Solutions, Iowa Pork Producers, Mercedes of Des Moines, NB Golf Cars, Voss Distributing and Voya.
