The McCreary Community Building’s weeklong summer youth theater workshop came to a dramatic conclusion Friday with a six-person staging of the Cinderella story.

The grand finale drew a friendly audience of some 25 family members, friends and drama lovers.

The cast spent one week rehearsing and learning the rudiments of theater production before the curtain roase on Friday’s 3 p.m. performance.

Players in the play were Seth Borgeson, Amber Carmichael, Amy Diaz, Brendan Jackson, Ethan Jackson and Julie Maylum in the title role.

The production was directed by Nicole McFarland, with Callie McFarland acting as assistant director.

Like youth athletics, youth dramatics lay the foundation for later excellence and develop in the young participants an ease and familiarity with stagecraft that pay off once they reach the high school world of competitive performance.
