JEFFERSON, Iowa — A Grand Junction man faces his fifth charge of domestic abuse assault following a mid-day disturbance Wednesday in Scranton, where he allegedly head butted his ex-girlfriend.

George Joseph Glasgow, 48, of 407 11th St. S., Grand Junction, was charged with third or subsequent offense-domestic abuse assault.

The incident began about 11:15 a.m. Wednesday when Greene County Deputy Sheriffs responded to a report of a domestic disturbance in the 800 block of Eighth Street in Scranton.

According to court records, the victim told the deputies that “Joe Glasgow ‘head butted’ her twice in the nose region.” She said she received a text message from Glasgow about 10:45 a.m., and he told her “to answer her door.”

The victim said she answered the door, and Glasgow “struck her with his head twice.” After she was struck, the victim “was pushed into the closet area,” and Glasgow told “her she was done for.”

The victim said Glasgow “lived at her residence for approximately one month, and she had recently kicked him out.”

The deputies made contact with Glasgow at a residence in the 100 block of Lincoln Street in Scranton, and he said “he did get into an altercation with” the victim.

Glasgow claimed the female “had ‘head butted’ him and struck him multiple times” and that “he acted in self defense and pushed” the female “into the closet area.”

Before arresting Glasgow, the deputy observed for Glasgow’s benefit that “most offenders do not strike with the bridge of their nose.”

Glasgow is held in the Greene County Jail.

Glasgow has prior convictions in Greene County District Court for domestic abuse assault in March 2003, for assault-use/display of a weapon in September 2007, for two counts of assault in October 2010, of assault-use/display of a weapon in January 2011, for domestic abuse assault in July 2011, for domestic abuse assault in August 2012 and for domestic abuse assault in June 2016.

*A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

  1. Why is she still with him? Five beatdowns and she will likely send him money while he is in prison for this one. I hope she gets some counseling while he is away for a few years, or she will be bloodied up (or worse) for the sixth time when he gets out.
