The Granger-based automobile dealership Beneventi Chevrolet announced Thursday a transition in ownership.

“Today is an emotional day here at Beneventi Chevrolet as we say ‘Goodbye’ after 88 years,” the automobile dealership said on its Facebook page.

Effective Friday, Beneventi Chevrolet will become Willis Chevrolet of Granger after its purchase by Willis Automotive, a family-owned business similar to the Beneventis.

“Thank you again for your loyalty!” the Beneventis said on Facebook. “It has been our pleasure to serve you the past 88 years, and we wish you many blessings in the future.”

The dealership opened in downtown Granger in 1932 and moved its sales and service operations to Iowa Highway 141 in 1977.

The Beneventi family are longtime benefactors to the Granger community.

The Facebook statement said more information on the transition will be forthcoming.
