The Greater Des Moines Community Band will perform Sunday, April 16 at 2 p.m. in the Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St. in Perry. The show is part of the Perry Fine Arts Concert Series.
The concert, the third in the band’s Connection Concert series, is titled, “Celebrating Connections Through Music.” You will hear a wide variety of musical selections, including a piece titled, “Mr. C’s Very Bad Day,” which will be conducted by former Perry High School Band Director Steve Cook. Steve is a member of the band along with his former school band director, one of his former students, and Perry-area musicians who have played with Mr. C. as part of the Perry Municipal Band. This is just one of the many connections made through the music that will be highlighted during the concert.
The Greater Des Moines Community Band was founded in 1987 and located in Des Moines, Iowa. This volunteer musical organization is comprised of musicians from all walks of life. Members come from Des Moines as well as the surrounding communities. They are also a member of the Association Concerts Band.
The Greater Des Moines Community Band performs year-round with an ensemble of 65+ members. Concerts occur on a weekly basis in and around the area at various venues, including retirement communities, the World War II Memorial Remembrance, the National Balloon Festival Parade and the Iowa State Fair
New members are always welcome in the Greater Des Moines Community Band. There is no audition required for membership in the ensemble. Contact the band for more information at lutheranband@mchsi.com

Las Bellas Artes de Perry dará la bienvenida a la Banda de la Mayor Comunidad de Des Moines el 16 de abril, 2023 a las 2:00 de la tarde en el Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St., Perry, IA.
El concierto para la Series de las Bellas Artes de Perry es el tercero en la series de Conciertos de Conexión de la banda.
