PANORA — Thursday’s boys soccer match between visiting Greene County and Panorama ended in the 79th minute.

The reason? A 10th goal from the Rams, who recorded a 10-0 win in what Panther head coach Matt Fronapfel said he hoped his squad will use as a spark for the rest of the season.

“This was a tough game, but hopefully it will be a motivational experience,” Fronapfel said. “It was a good learning experience, and I think we needed one like this.”

Greene County improved to 6-1 with their third 10-0 win of the season while the loss drops Panorama to 1-3 overall.

Ram senior Leo Marques proved unstoppable in scoring six goals, with sophomore Junior Gutierrez adding two goals and juniors Isaiah Losee and Luis Tuesta one goal apiece.

Despite yielding 10 goals, Fronapfel praised the play of Trent Hambleton and of Panther goalie Kyle Cogil, who, he said “had several exceptional saves in goal” without which the mercy rule would have been enforced much earlier.

Panorama will return to action Thursday with a visit from Treynor. The girls match will start at 5 p.m. with the boys contest to follow at 7 p.m.
