Gregory “Greg” Moxley, 73, of Perry passed away Saturday, Oct. 16, 2021, at the Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23 at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Church in Perry. A private family burial will be at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry, Iowa.

Memorials will be given to Every Step Hospice and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home and Cremation Care. Online condolences may be left at www.carrisfuneralhome.com.

Gregory “Greg” James Moxley was born May 28, 1948, in Perry, Iowa, to Donald and Dolores (Kidd) Moxley.

He attended school in Redondo Beach, California, from kindergarten through fourth grade and then moved to Perry and graduated from Perry High School.

In his teens and early adult life he worked at the family business, Moxley’s Ice Cream.

Greg was united in marriage to Verjean Kay Bennett in Omaha, Nebraska, Jan. 28, 1971.

He worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad in Boone as a train dispatcher for many years.

Greg enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, cooking and maintaining his acreage.

He cherished his family and hosted many memorable family meals.

In death he rejoins his parents; Donald and Dolores Moxley; and a son, Ryan Daniel Moxley.

Left to cherish Greg’s memory are his wife, Verjean; children, James Moxley of Des Moines and Curtis Moxley of Polk City; six grandchildren ranging in age from 23 to 7, Adam, Connor, Brooke, Kara, Kaitlyn and Ethan; a brother, Douglas (Mary) Moxley of South Bend, Indiana; and a sister, Pam (Reg) Clemens of Chicago Park, California.
