A Grimes woman was arrested in Dallas Center Monday night after allegedly causing a drunken stir on the home.

Lacey Marie Ray, 37, of 808 S.E. Polk St., Grimes, was charged with first-offense domestic abuse assault and three counts of child endangerment.

The incident began about 9:30 p.m. Monday in the 800 block of Fairview Drive in Dallas Center, where Dallas County Deputy Sheriff’s responded to a report of “a female attempting to force entry into a home by breaking through a window,” according to court records.

The domestic disturbance began when Ray and an adult male victim began “arguing about Ray’s alcohol consumption,” according to court records.

Escalation caused Ray to “pound on multiple doors around the house,” and she “eventually picked a broom up on the front porch and began to strike a window on the porch of the house,” according to court records.

Ray allegedly “struck” the adult victim “in the face and shoved him,” according to court records.

Three minor children witnessed the disturbance. When the eldest child attempted to intervene, she was allegedly “pushed down,” thus “striking her head against a wall, resulting in no injury,” according to court records.

Ray was held in the Dallas County Jail prior to posting a $6,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing May 14 in Dallas County District Court.

A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
