At 3:45 p.m. Thursday, Doppler radar of the National Weather Service was tracking thunderstorms along a line extending from 10 miles southwest of Ogden to near Perry. The storm was moving northeast at 50 mph.
Winds in excess of 30 mph and small hail are forecast with these storms, an NWS statement said. Lightning is also possible.
Locations possibly impacted include Perry and the following central-Iowa towns: Ames, Boone, Story City, Ogden, Roland, Jewell Junction, Gilbert, Woodward, Boone Speedway, Ellsworth, Stanhope, Minburn, Rippey, Kamrar, Randall, Bouton, Luther, Fraser and Beaver.
