Retired Perry Activities Director Tom Lipovac will receive a rarified honor in March when he is inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Directors Association Hall of Fame.

Lipovac stepped away from his post in Perry last summer after 43 years of service to the school and community. His career began with a one-year stint at Maxwell before coming to Perry, which, he said, was “just going to be a step along the way.”

The move turned out to be a permanent one, and one Lipovac could not have been more satisfied with.

“Over my career I have been blessed to work with so many outstanding coaches, teachers, officials and others, that I hate to single any one out for fear of missing another,” Lipovac said. “One thing that has been a pleasure is that in my entire time at Perry I have worked alongside only two principals at the high school — Dr. (Eugene) Brady and Dan Marburger.”

“The support I have been given from them, from our different superintendents and from the community has been incredible and very satisfying,” he added. “Obviously I am pleased to be recognized by my peers.”

The IHSADA will formerly recognize Lipovac during their spring meetings and conferences, which will be held in Coralville the last weekend in March. Lipovac will officially be inducted into the Hall of Fame at the convention dinner and ceremony March 30.
