ADEL, Iowa — Dallas County Treasurer Mitch Hambleton announced Wednesday that he has reconsidered his recently announced retirement and will seek a third term in 2022 as the county’s chief financial officer.

“I received much feedback from many, many people after my retirement announcement last week,” said Hambleton, a Dallas Center Republican. “People really appreciate the job that I have done while in office and have asked me to continue to do so. I really enjoy my job. I feel that my department does everything that they can to deliver the great, efficient service to the taxpayers of Dallas County.”

Hambleton rose to countywide office in 2014 after serving nine years as mayor and eight years as a city council member in Dallas Center. He also spent a decade as the county’s Republican Party chairperson.

“It has been an honor to serve the citizens of Dallas County as treasurer for the past eight years,” Hambleton said in last week’s statement. “I’ve been incredibly blessed to be able to work with such a great group of hard-working individuals.”
