The Perry Police Department is investigating a vehicle break in about 9:15 p.m. Saturday in the 2500 block of Parkview Place from which the thief made off with a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol.
The vehicle’s owner reported seeing someone leave the scene and enter Wiese Park. Officers responded and searched the vicinity but without finding the suspect.
Evidence collected at the scene of the break in led law enforcement to believe the thief was possibly riding a bicycle.
A man on a bicycle was shortly afterward stopped and searched by officers of the Woodward Police Department and Perry Police Department.
No weapons were found, but Ivan Equardo Rivas-Leanos, 23, was arrested by the Woodward Police Department on charges of second-offense possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and on a Polk County arrest warrant for failure to appear on an original charge of second-offense possession of a controlled substance.
The investigation is ongoing.
