Of the 35 projects receiving a combined $138,753 in grant funding from the Dallas County Foundation (DCF) in conjunction with the Grow Greene County Gaming Corp. (GGCGC) in the 2019 granting cycle, one notable community betterment project appearing on the horizon is the Waukee Miracle Park Fishing Pier.

“The Dallas County Foundation and Grow Greene County Foundation are proud to have granted $20,000 to assist in the building of a handicapped fishing pier in the new Waukee Miracle Park Complex,” said a DCF statement released Friday. “Not only will the pier allow those with handicaps to enjoy the relaxation of fishing but also all veterans and residents of Dallas County.”

The Waukee Northwest High School is under construction north of Hickman Road and east of N. 10th Street on a 160-acre property. The 300,000-square-foot high school will eventually be bounded on its north side by the Waukee Miracle Park Complex, including the stocked, 12-acre detention-pond lake.
