Dave Zenor of Perry and Deepak Nayyar of West Des Moines, owner of the Blue Jay Market in Perry, were putting their heads together — at a distance of six feet — Thursday morning and talking about strategies for survival during these unsettled times.

The Dallas County Public Health Department has offered a few ideas for helping:

Guidance for sewing face masks is provided by the Iowa Department of Public Health.

The Food Bank of Iowa supports Dallas County residents and pantries, including the Perry Food Pantry. Virtual donations can be made at the Food Bank of Iowa website.

The United Way of Central Iowa coordinates volunteers for agencies across the metro, and Volunteer Iowa also has COVID-19-related volunteer opportunities.

Before delivering any donations, call the agency to find out what they are needing and how they would like it delivered.
