Hawk boys slip past Tigerhawks in jamboree

SAYDEL — Woodward-Granger rallied to claim a 29-27 win over Colfax-Mingo Monday in a jamboree contest. The games are officiated and played for two quarters.

The Tigerhawks held a 14-9 lead after the first quarter, but a 20-13 run from the Hawks lifted W-G to the victory.

Noah Hoyt led W-G with 12 points, with Bryce Achenbach and J.P. Nixon adding six points apiece. Three points from Kaya Bowlsby and two from Pacey Moats completed the Hawk scoring.

Achenbach finished with two steals and two assists, with Hoyt making two steals. Keith Braunschweig led the team with three rebounds.

Both W-G teams will play a trio of road games next week, visiting Martensdale-St. Marys Monday, West Central Valley Tuesday and Des Moines Christian Dec. 1. The Hawks boys and girls will then host Saydel Dec. 4 in their home openers.
