BOONE — The Woodward-Granger boys golfers made consecutive trips to Boone Tuesday and Wednesday to face Madrid for a dual meet before playing in the 18-hole WCC conference tourney.

Des Moines Christian slipped by Panorama, 321-328, to claim the conference meet title Wednesday, with Van Meter third at 374. While seven strokes separated first place from second, the same number of swings also separated the teams placing fourth through eighth, as Earlham (391), W-G (392), Madrid (396), WCV (397) and Ogden (398) were jammed together in the standings while Guthrie Center (531) was well back in the final spot.

Noah Miller (75) and Tommy Shisler (76) of DMC seized the top two individual spots.

Nick Brummond led W-G with a 44-48–92, with Brady Aunspach carding a 45-50–95. Austin Ober provided a 50-51–101 and Connor Olesen a 49-55–104 to account for the four scorers. Also playing for the Hawks were Max Helbling (57-50–107) and Hunter Pierce (54-59–113).

W-G was coming off a 178-188 loss to Madrid in head-to-head action Tuesday.

Aunspach and Brummond each had rounds of 44 for the Hawks, with Ober shooting a 49 and Pierce a 51. Helbling (53) and Olesen (53) also made the circuit but did not have their scores tabulated.

C.J. Lowe had a 40 for Madrid, with Acey Zander carding a 44 while Aaron Spelling and Jacob Schrada each had rounds of 47. The Tigers discarded the scores of 48 from Jake Meeker and of 58 from Cole Houseman.
