INDIANOLA — Woodward-Granger hit the wrestling mats twice Thursday, falling to host Indianola, 67-9, and besting Pella, 45-36, in triangular action. Indianola was a 64-15 victor over Pella in the other team dual.

Top-ranked Cody Fisher (220 pounds) and fellow senior Cale Pritchett (170) were the lone Hawks to record victories against Indianola. Fisher won by pin in 2 minutes, 43 seconds, with Pritchett winning a 6-2 decision. A pin from Pritchett in 37 seconds and one from Fisher, in 1:05, against their Pella opponents accounted for the only double-winners for W-G.

Tyler Lawrenson posted a pin in 5:18 to win his one heavyweight match, as Alex Evans had dropped the 285-pound match against the hosts.

Kade Polich (182) needed just 24 seconds to score a pin against the Dutch, Dustin Harney winning a 13-7 decision at 152.

Jayden Flugge-Smith and Matthew White had competed at 132 and 138, respectively, against Indianola, with both unable to find victory. The two flipped back to their normal weight classes against Pella, with each then recording a pinfall victory.

Peyton Nixon also collected a win for W-G in their second team dual when he received a forfeit at 106.

Joel Harney (113), Corbyn Atwell (120), Tjaden Smeltzer (126), Jay Dorenkamp (145), Clay Pehl (160) and Devan Brown (195) also competed for the Hawks, but all were unable to earn a win in their pair of matches.

W-G will join AC/GC and Baxter Tuesday for a quadrangular at South Central Calhoun before a Thursday quadrangular at Ballard that will also include Boone and Winterset. The Hawks will then compete Jan. 25 at the Interstate-35 Invitational to cap a busy week.
