Hawk harriers run in Greenfield

GREENFIELD — The Woodward-Granger varsity cross country team ran the Adair County Fairgrounds Monday in the Nodaway Valley Invite.

The W-G boys finished sixth of 15 teams with 200 points, with Earlham (51), Nodaway Valley (57) and Madrid (66) claiming the top three spots. AHSTW (82), Van Meter (88) and Earlham (89) were the top three girls team finishers, with W-G 12th of 13 at 318.

Dylan Steele (28th, 18 minutes, 47.99 seconds) led the W-G boys, with Alex Bice (37th, 19:11.34) the second Hawk finisher. Also scoring were Caleb Jones (41st, 19:38.17), Xavier Ibarra (46th, 19:53.03) and Jack Grell (48th, 19:54.47), with Carsten Wright (50th, 20:05.69) and Kaya Bowlsby (61st, 21:10.18) running as well.

Natalie Helbling placed 52nd in 25:19.48 to lead the W-G girls, with Kaitlyn Smith 60th in 26:06.97 and Katie Grell 62nd in 26:32.74. Sydney Grell was 71st in 28:17.67 and Makenzie Dresback 73rd in 28:36.35 to cap the Hawk scoring, with Ava Petersen (74th, 28:43.08) and Madisyn Mann (75th, 28:56.69) also participating.
