OGDEN — The Woodward-Granger boys will take a 6-1 overall record and the W-G girls a 5-2 mark into the holiday break after both squads topped host Ogden in WCAC play Friday. The wins move both Hawk units to 4-1 in conference play.

W-G had little trouble in rolling to a 58-20 win in the boys game after the Hawk girls used a solid third quarter to help ensure a 45-34 victory. Ogden fell to 4-4, 2-3 in boys play with the Bulldog girls now 1-8, 0-5.

The boys game stood at 15-12, in favor of the guests, after one frame of action, but a 10-2 second stanza allowed W-G to open a 25-14 halftime lead. Whatever hopes of an upset Ogden may have held vanished in the second half, with W-G outscoring their hosts 19-0 in the third quarter for a 44-14 lead.

Keith Braunschweig led W-G in scoring for the first time this season after finishing with 13 points. Kaya Bowlsby had 10 points and Reese Jamison and Pacey Moats eight points apiece, with seven points from Alex Bice, six from Nick Buch and three each from Bryce Achenbach and Dylan Backe accounting for the output.

Bowlsby and Moats each sank a pair of 3-pointers, with Achenbach, Backe, Bice, and Braunschweig all connecting once behind the arc.

Achenbach had eight rebounds and Braunschweig seven, with Achenbach distributing seven assists, Jamison four and Bowlsby and Bice three apiece. Bowlsby led the team in larceny with five steals.

Statistics for the Ogden boys were not available.

W-G held only a 24-22 edge at the intermission of the girls game, but an 11-3 advantage in the third quarter allowed the Hawks to take a 35-25 lead into the final frame.

Darby Nixon led the visitors with 12 points, with Katelyn Scharlau adding 11 points and Emma Anderson 10. The scoring list was completed by eight points from Finley Fitzgerald and two each from Natalie Helbling and Mae Anderson. Emma Anderson had two 3-point baskets.

Mae Anderson pulled down seven rebounds and Scharlau five, with Emma Anderson making five steals and Fitzgerald, Scharlau and Nixon three steals apiece. Emma Anderson also had four assists and blocked two shots.

Gabby Ross had 12 points for Ogden, with Meredith Adreon scoring eight points. Denali Loecker provided five points, Faith Mohr and Joelle Consler four apiece and Reagan Church a free throw.
