PANORA — Woodward-Granger senior Cierra DeHoet’s drive to play in the Class 2A state golf tournament for the second consecutive season will continue after the Hawk standout advanced from Monday’s 4A Regional at Lake Panorama National.
Van Meter and Colfax-Mingo were the two teams to advance after finishing with scores of 405 and 426, respectively. W-G and Des Moines Christian tied for third at 490, with Panorama (508), Ogden (525) and Interstate-35 (602) also in the field.
Six individuals qualified as well, with Van Meter’s Kylie Carey (82) and London Wille (86) the two low scorers. Colfax-Mingo’s Delaney Underwood and DMC’s CeCe Sturdivant each shot a 91, with DeHoet carding a 98 and DMC’s Ashley Kimani a 105.
Teams and players will now compete in Pleasantville May 20 for the right to advance to the state meet, which will be held May 28-29 at the Ames Country Club. Others playing in Pleasantville will be from the Kalona Regional.
Individual scoring, behind qualifiers, for teams playing Monday in Panora have not been made available.
