Hawks golfers host Bulldogs, Lions for coed triangular

WOODWARD — Des Moines Christian and Ogden sent their boys and girls golf squads to the Woodward Golf Club Tuesday to contest a West Central Conference triangular with host W-G.

The Hawks finished in second place on both sides of the meet, with DMC shooting a 149 to win the boys portion. W-G was second at 184, with Ogden third at 198. Ogden’s 212 won the girls side, with W-G second at 231 and DMC third with a 248.

Boys medalist honors went to Tommy Shisler of DMC with his one-over par 36 while fellow Lion Keaton Van Soelen earned the runner-up spot with a two-over 37.

Jordan Pierce fired a 44 to lead the Hawk boys, with Nick Brummond carding a 45, Austin Ober a 47 and Connor Olesen a 48. Rounds of 49 from both Brady Aunspach and Max Helbling were not used toward the team total.

Ogden’s Hannah Carter shot a 46 to win the medalist honors for the girls, with W-G’s Cierra DeHoet finishing as the runner-up with a score of 52.

Paige Mescher, Aubrey Mescher and Hannah Nelson joined DeHoet in scoring for the hosts with rounds of 56, 59 and 64, respectively. Kayla Crouse also played for W-G, carding an untabulated 82 in her first varsity action.

The W-G boys will visit Southeast Valley Friday before playing in the 18-hole Bluejay Invitational at Perry Saturday while the W-G girls are off until a visit to Panorama Monday.
