EDDYVILLE — Wednesday’s non-conference game between host Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont and Class 2A No. 5 Woodward-Granger was a tight affair — through nine inning.

A pair of E-B-F runs in the bottom of the sixth forced extra innings, and the score remained unchanged through two extra frames. W-G (15-4-1) suddenly erupted in the top of the 10th, sending six players across the plate en route to a 9-3 victory.

E-B-F (11-5) held a 1-0 lead, but two runs from the Hawks in the fourth and one in the sixth put the guests in front, 3-1, only to have W-G skipper Eric Evans’ alma mater die the game in the bottom of the sixth.

Alex Bice started and tossed 5-2/3 innings for the Hawks, yielding three unearned runs on four hits and a walk while striking out two. Reese Jamison earned the win in 4-1/3 frames of relief. He allowed one hit and five walks while striking out seven.

Jamison had two singles and a RBI, with Bryce Achenbach adding a double and a run while Colby Tague had two hits, a run and a RBI. Worth Henry, Tate Lettow and Jack Grell also had singles, with Henry scoring twice with one RBI while Lettow had a run and two RBIs and Grell a run.

Trevor Simmons, Pacey Moats and Christian Husmann each scored once, with Moats, Simmons and Caden Easter driving in runs.

W-G will wrap their regular season Friday with a visit from Chariton. The Chargers have played just nine games, and are 5-4 overall.
