Hawks run the circuit at Madrid Invitational

Woodward-Granger harriers ran Thursday in the Madrid Invite, with three Hawks placing in the top 10.

MADRID — The Woodward-Granger cross country teams were in action Thursday, competing in the Madrid Invite at Woods Park. Both Hawk teams place fourth in their respective races.

Ogden won the boys side with 31 points, with Madrid second at 38. Perry (82) was third, W-G (101) fourth, BGM (109) fifth, Colo-NESCO (111) sixth, and the Woodward Academy (214) seventh.

Madrid (53), Perry (60), and Ogden (66) claimed the top three girls team spots, with W-G (88), BGM (106), and Colo-NESCO (109) completing the field.

Carsten Wright placed nith in 19 minutes, 15 seconds to pace the W-G boys, with Dillon Limoges 12th in 19:59. Healey Hill (20:45), Grant Polito (21:40), and Tjaden Smeltzer (22:08) were 21-27-32 to score for Hawks. Joel Harney was 35th in 22:41 and Aiden Topolavich 37th in 22:55, but their placings were not used for the team total.

Dylan Bird (23:59), Lucas Hansen (25:37) and Sidney Trees (28:28) also ran the W-G boys.

Libby Grell (5th, 23:21) and Chloe Houge (8th, 24:03) both earned medals for the Hawk girls. Makenzie Dresback (23rd, 26:00), Madisyn Mann (24th, 26:19), and Sydney Grell (28th, 27:12) also provided varsity points. Katie Grell (29th, 27:18) and Kaitlyn Smith (30th, 27:22) were also in action for the varsity, with Marissa Trees (28:06) completing the course as well.

Madrid sophomores Ethan Loutzenheiser (17:00) and Clay Warson (17:39) were the top two boys finishers, with Perry senior Jaylene Karolus (22:04) and Madrid junior Emily White (22:10) the first two girls to cross.
