WOODWARD — Senior Noah Hoyt scorched the nets in his home gym Friday to lead Woodward-Granger to a 76-53 WCAC victory over West Central Valley.

Hoyt sizzled with the ball in his hands, sinking all three of his 3-point attempts, hitting nine of his 12 other attempts and making his only free throw to finish with a career-high 28 points.

W-G (3-1, 3-0) was in control throughout, quickly grabbing a 17-8 advantage after the first quarter before expanding their advantage a further 10 points by opening a 35-16 gulf at the intermission.

WCV (0-3, 0-2) faced a 58-36 deficit after three stanzas and could come no closer.

Bryce Achenbach added 16 points and Kaya Bowlsby 12 for the hosts. Keith Braunschweig had nine points, Nick Buch four, Reese Jamison three and Alex Bice and Jack Grell two apiece.

Hoyt added six rebounds, five steals and four assists to his offensive outburst, with Achenbach making 11 assists and three steals. Braunschweig had 12 boards and Bowlsby four assists, with Pacey Moats contributing three steals.

W-G visits Interstate-35 Tuesday and Ogden Friday for a pair of WCAC contests, then will step out of conference for a boys/girls set against visiting Greene County Dec. 17.
