Heather was born on Jan. 25, 1974, in Storm Lake, Iowa, to Allen and Gretchen (Tank) Rowedder.
She was raised in Jefferson and graduated from Jefferson-Scranton High School in 1992. She went on to earn her bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in early childhood education.
On May 20, 1995, Heather married the love of her life, Dean Lansman, in Jefferson. Together they built a beautiful life and were blessed with two children, Morgan and Logan, who were the center of Heather’s world.
Heather deeply cherished family game nights, girls’ days and phone calls just to check in. Her love knew no bounds. Her family and furry companions were her whole heart.
For 16 years Heather worked in education, most recently as the administrative assistant at Paton-Churdan Community School District. She adored her students, especially the littles, and loved witnessing the sweet moments between children of all ages.
Heather’s faith was a guiding light in her life. She was a devoted member of the Lutheran Church of Hope in West Des Moines and found great comfort in her relationship with Jesus.
Heather had a vibrant love for life. She enjoyed tailgating, mowing, long drives, golf outings, bike rides and sunrises/sunsets.
She was selfless, compassionate and an incredible cook who was always eager to lend a hand.
Heather was a wonderful coordinator when it came to gardening and home projects, duties her husband Dean graciously fulfilled. She found joy in bird watching, quiet mornings with Dean on their porch, sipping coffee together and taking vacations, just as long as they weren’t too long.
Heather’s heart of gold and gentle spirit left an imprint on everyone she met. Her memory will live on through the many lives she touched.
