Herbert Creese, 83, of Perry died Sunday, July 5, 2015, at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry as a result of Alzheimer’s.

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 8 from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held at the West Cass Township Cemetery in Panora. Memorials may be given to family and may be left at the Funeral Home. Herbert Charles Creese was born Dec. 24, 1931, the son of LeRoy and Nola Creese, at Charter Oak, Iowa.

Herb and his wife, Evelyn, ran two supper clubs, Herb’s Lounge in Perry and Eve’s Supper Club in Adel, for many years. Herb also ran Herb’s Backhoe Service for many years in Perry.

Herb joined the U.S. Army Jan. 4, 1949, and served four years in Japan as a Military Police Officer. He then enlisted in the United States Marine Corp as an MP. He served three years in the Korean War.

He is survived by a daughter, Debbie (Jerome) Wuebker of Perry; a son, Kevin (Pam) Creese of Jamaica; a daughter, Kathy (Dan) Robinson of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a lady friend, Donna Van Kirk.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Evelyn; parents, LeRoy and Nola; two sons, Phillip Creese Sr. and Kelly Creese; four sisters, Elaine Eggert, Pearl Weifenbash, Nora Creese and Evelyn Rindel; and two grandsons, Evan and Gabe Creese.
