Hildred “Hilda” Allen, 93, of Perry passed away Nov. 3, 2024, at the Eden Acres campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes in Perry, Iowa.
Hilda was born June 21, 1931, in Longrun, Missouri. She and her twin, Mildred, were the seventh and eighth in line of 12 children born to William and Nora (Hampton) Simpson.
Hilda owned and operated the Rogers Hotel in Perry before moving to a farm outside Yale.
Hilda enjoyed reading, working puzzles, baking and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She sewed all her life and mastered everything from Barbie clothes to wedding dresses.
After moving to Yakima, Washington, Hilda enjoyed sharing recipes with her sisters and baking for their large family gatherings. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens.
She was excellent at embroidery, often completing a project in one day. Many friends and relatives were taught the craft by Hilda, but none were able to master the same level of expertise.
When she moved to Eden Acres, Hilda enjoyed working puzzles with her friend, Sue Finer, and continued her embroidery and reading.
Hilda was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Ruby, Hazel, Ruthie, Medea, Gladys, Mildred, Beulah and Sue; her brothers, Joseph, Ralph and Manfred; a daughter, Connie Rogers; and a son-in-law, Brent Davis.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Doug) Volz of Bouton, Tammy (Ken) Rogge of Paonia, Colorado, Brenda Davis of Perry and Terry Allen of Yale; grandchildren, Alison (Phil) Kanealy, Ellyse Fazio, Isaac (Melissa) Volz, Brennan (Zak) Baker, Alisha Lee, Maria (James) Thompson, Adam Rogge and Dalton Davis; and 17 great-grandchildren.
Private graveside services for the family will be held at a later date.
