Home team wrestlers excel at PHS invitational Friday

The Perry High School girls wrestling team defeated 11 other teams to snatch the championship trophy at Friday’s home tournament.

Seven PHS grapplers captured first place honors:

  • 100 lbs Hailey Peterson
  • 105 lbs Mercedes Ponce
  • 120 lbs Bella McDivitt
  • 125 lbs Ayden Erickson
  • 130 lbs Charity Mickles
  • 140 lbs Julie Maylum
  • 155 lbs Ava Devilbiss-Sholley

Lauren Rodgers took second place in the 145 lbs weight class after losing a closely fought match in the finals. Other Perry wrestlers taking honors were Taylor Atwell at third place at 115 lbs, Amy Aguirre at fourth place at 125 lbs and Alejandra Hernandez at fourth place at 190 lbs.
