A Perry property owner opened fire on a suspected prowler north of Perry Sunday night, sending the suspect to a Des Moines hospital with gunshot wounds to the legs.

The incident occurred about 10:45 p.m. in the 19400 block of 123rd Place near Jewell Avenue, according to public safety radio traffic.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office is investigating the shooting, and deputies sheriffs were still at the scene about 12:30 a.m. Monday.

The identity of the shooter and the suspected prowler have not been released by law enforcement at this hour, and no information about the incident is available.

The suspect was transported by Dallas County EMS to the Dallas County Hospital and then transported by air ambulance to Des Moines.

The Perry Police Department also responded.
