New HVAC units were installed on the roof of the Hotel Pattee Wednesday morning.

Traffic was diverted along westbound Willis Avenue in downtown Perry Wednesday morning while a crane lifted new HVAC units to the roof of the Hotel Pattee.

Hotel Pattee General Manager Aaron Lenz said one of the units will heat and cool the Spring Valley Ballroom, and the other will service the Raccoon River Valley Bicycle Co. He said a third unit was placed over the Frio Ice Cream building, and a fourth, delayed in shipment by Hurricane Michael, will arrive and be installed next week.

The 100-year-old landmark, also recently reroofed, was originally built in 1913 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It underwent a $14 million renovation in the late 1990s and now boasts a state of the art bowling alley, a restaurant and lounge, a full service spa and fitness center, meeting and events spaces and 40 one-of-a-kind guest rooms.

Tom and Vickie Maxwell of Edwardsville, Ill., purchased the hotel in January.
