WHO TV Channel 13 news reporter Maria Lisignoli, right, interviews Hotel Pattee owner Tom Maxwell early Tuesday in the first of three broadcasts from the downtown Perry landmark.

The WHO news crew set up at a cloudy dawn Tuesday morning at the Hotel Pattee in Perry.

Trump and Kim’s Singapore photo op might be dominating the Tuesday morning news cycle, but rest assured that life — and news — goes on in Perry, Iowa, in the shadow of the Great Men.

For example, WHO TV Channel 13 news reporter Maria Lisignoli made a trip to the Hotel Pattee in downtown Perry Tuesday morning in order to broadcast three live segments for the morning reports.

“We’re excited to be here,” Lisignoli told ThePerryNews.com.

The multimedia journalist interviewed Hotel Pattee owner Tom Maxwell in the lobby of the downtown landmark for the first segment and discussed the bright prospects of the High Trestle Trail’s soon-to-be connection to the Raccoon River Valley Trail.

Broadcasts from the Louis Armstrong Suite and the hotel bowling alley were also planned, Lisignoli said.
