Perry fell to Winterset, 9-0, Wednesday in their first game of 2015. The Jayettes will host the Norwalk Warriors Friday in their home opener.

WINTERSET — Six errors allowed seven unearned runs to score, helping WInterset hand Perry a 9-0 loss in a Raccoon River Conference softball opener Wednesday.

The game was the first of the season for Perry while Winterset had defeated West Des Moines Valley, 5-2, Monday.

The Huskies had three consecutive hits to start the bottom of the first, with five runs scoring before the Jayettes could get out of the inning.

Danny Barker ripped a three-run home run as the hosts scored four times in the sixth, but Perry miscues meant three of the four tallies in the frame were unearned.

Emma Olejniczak was tagged for nine runs (two earned) in six frames in the circle. She yielded seven hits and walk while striking out two.

Olejniczak, Alyssa Kruger and Victoria Hegstrom each had singles for Perry, the only hits off of Regan Thompson. Olejniczak also had a stolen base for Jayettes.

Perry hosts Norwalk Friday in their home opener, with trips to Carroll and Boone, on June 3 and 4, respectively, the next three scheduled outings for the Jayettes.
