WINTERSET — The second half of the season started on a down note for the Perry girls basketball team Tuesday as the Jayettes were unable to record a victory against host Winterset.
The Huskies (5-3, 4-2) turned a nine-point advantage after eight minutes of play into an 18-point halftime margin in collecting the win. Up, 30-12, the hosts used a 28-7 third quarter to create a 58-19 lead entering the fourth frame.
Lydia Olejniczak led Perry (1-6, 0-6) with 13 points, with Kennedy Tunink adding five. Quinn Whiton and Jayna Kenney each splashed a 3-pointer for their three points, with Olejniczak also draining a trey.
Jena Young hit four shots beyond the arc to lead all scorers with 24 points for the hosts. Bridget Stover aided the Huskies cause with 15 points.
Perry will face visiting and second-ranked Ballard at 6 p.m. today and then entertain South Hamilton Monday at 6 p.m. Both dates are girls only and varsity only.
