Huxley pair arrested with half-ounce of meth Wednesday

Two residents of Huxley were arrested early Wednesday in a West Des Moines motel after police allegedly found a half-ounce of methamphetamine in their room.

Jared Russell Zimmerman, 42, of 511 E. First St., Huxley, was charged with controlled substance violation, unlawful possession of prescription drug, failure to affix drug stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Susan Marie Dole, 61, of 511 E. First St., Huxley, was charged with controlled substance violation, failure to affix drug stamp and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The incident began about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 7600 block of Office Plaza Drive in West Des Moines, where officers of the West Des Moines Police Department responded to a report of theft.

According to court records, the “officers were given consent to enter the hotel room,” where a search disclosed “a baggie with a white, crystallized substance, which field tested as positive for methamphetamine,” and “glass pipes with residue.”

The methamphetamine weighed about 14.4 grams, according to court records.

Zimmerman is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 14 in Dallas County District Court.

Zimmerman was convicted of possession of a controlled substance in 2010 in Warren County District Court. He was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia in 2014 in Polk County District Court.

Dole is held in the Dallas County Jail on a $25,000 cash or surety bond. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing Oct. 14 in Dallas County District Court.
