An overturned vehicle in the ditch along County Road P58 south of Perry was a common sight Tuesday morning when glare ice covered roadways.

Glare ice on Iowa roadways Tuesday morning caused numerous accidents, denting fenders and littering ditches around the state with disabled vehicles.

A notable trouble spot south of Perry was County Road P58 just north of the Raccoon River Bridge, where several vehicles left the roadway about 6 a.m.

One vehicle came to rest upside down in the ditch on the east side of J Avenue. The two occupants of the SUV were not injured.

The Perry Police Department and Dallas County Sheriff’s office responded to the incidents and tried to provide traffic control in the vicinity, but the glare ice caused other passing motorists to lose control in the curve approaching the bridge.

One vehicle struck the rear of the Dallas County Sheriff’s patrol car about 6:45 a.m., causing minor damage.

The driver was issued a cited for driving without a license.

No injuries were sustained in the one-vehicle rollover accident Tuesday morning south of Perry.
