With Perry-area roads slick with ice, the National Weather Service office in Des Moines has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until noon Friday.

A mixture of rain and snow is forecast, with snow accumulations of up to one-half inch possible over a light glaze of ice.

The winter weather advisory is in effect for much of central and southern Iowa.

The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute, with periods of snow, sleet or freezing rain causing travel difficulties. Expect slippery roads and limited visibilities, and use caution while driving.

The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

ThePerryNews.com will update this weather story as forecasts change.
