Changes will be coming to girls cross country this fall thanks to decisions announced by the IGHSAU Thursday.
The primary difference will be a one-third increase in the number of harriers who will qualify for the state meet, which will continue to be held at Kennedy Park in Fort Dodge.
Formerly the top 10 finishers in the five regional races in each class advanced to the state meet, but that number will now grow to 15, raising the field from 50 runners to 75 in each class.
The changes are effective beginning with the 2015 season.
