Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate a victim from the one-vehicle rollover accident on the Iowa Highway 141 overpass of U.S. Highway 169 Monday about 1 p.m.

At least one person was injured shortly before 1 p.m. Monday when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway of the eastbound lanes on Iowa Highway 141 on the U.S. Highway 169 overpass and rolled before coming to rest in the long grass at the bottom of the steep ditch.

Emergency responders used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver from the badly damaged vehicle.

It appeared the vehicle struck the inside wall of the overpass bridge and then crossed both eastbound lanes before entering the southern ditch. Debris on the overpass included one wheel and what appeared to be parts of the front-end suspension.

The Dallas County Sheriff’s office confirmed one person was transported from the scene by the Dallas County EMS.

The Perry Volunteer Fire Department, Bouton Volunteer Fire Department and Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement Agency also responded.
