DES MOINES, Iowa — Sunday’s statement from Gov. Kim Reynolds has led the Unified Activities partners in Iowa to close all public school activities for four full weeks. The groups in question include the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union, the Iowa High School Athletic Association, the Iowa High School Music Association and the Iowa High School Speech Association.

All are acting in the hopes of limiting the spread and impact of the COVID-19 virus.

The current closures are in place through April 10 and are based upon a possible return-to-school date of April 13. That date is subject to change based upon information received by the governor’s office in consultation with the Iowa Department of Public Health, the Iowa Department of Education and the four activity organizations.

The full joint press release contains additional details.
