A line crew from ITC Midwest took to the water Friday in an effort to manage a tilting power pole west of Perry along Iowa Highway 141.

The pole stood surrounded by flood waters on the west side of the river, just north of the North Raccoon River Bridge on Iowa Highway 141. The pole appeared to be tilting northward possibly as a result of the recent breakup of the winter ice and snow.

It was not immediately apparent what the workers aimed to accomplish, but a rope was attached at one end to an ITC truck parked along the highway and attached at the other end to a flat-bottomed boat, which was then navigated to the power pole.

Two ITC workers occupied the boat while another two assisted from dry land.

ThePerryNews.com deemed it unseemly to intrude upon their labors with ill-timed questions, and so we left the line crew at their work as evening twilight fell on the banks of the North Raccoon River.

ThePerryNews.com will update this story as information becomes available.
