Jaguars rally past visiting Hawks

DAYTON — Woodward-Granger saw a 3-0 go by the wayside Friday as host Southeast Valley claimed a 4-3 win in non-conference softball.

W-G (5-10) scored once in the first and twice in the third to open a 3-0 gap, but SEV (8-3) plated a run in their half of the third to get on the scoreboard.

Two tallies by the Eagles in the fourth tied the game, with a final score in the fifth setting the final margin.

Ava Petersen started and saw her first varsity pitching action of the season for the Hawks. She tossed four innings, allowing three unearned runs on nine hits and a walk while striking out one.

Rian Jamison allowed an unearned run on a hit and hit batsman in three innings of relief and was handed the loss on the rubber.

Chloe Houge had three singles and two runs for W-G, with Brylee Bice adding a hit and two RBIs. Peterson had a single, with Audrey Simmons having a RBI and Katelyn Bandstra scoring once.

Maddie VanSickle threw the first three frames for the Eagles. She was touched for three unearned runs on four hits and a walk while fanning a pair.

Makenzie Crampton relieved, allowing a hit while striking out five in four innnings.

Crampton and Emily Jaeschke each had a single and a double, with Jaydyn Rowley hitting two singles.

W-G visits AC/GC Tuesday and Bondurant-Farrar Wednesday before hosting Perry Thursday in the regular season finale for the Hawks.
